why is andrew still in the band? what talent does that young man posess? He doest do ANYTHING! was he even in an ensemble?

Well, I remember at the end of fifth grade we both promised to stay in band at least through eighth grade, but I don't know if that's why he's still there...
I think:
1) he likes someone in the band, or
2) he's impressing someone by staying in band.
Or maybe he's just remembering his promise to his fellow oboe player that hes known for 4 years. (OMG! It's scary! He's the first person, not including my neighbors, who I EVER met here! *shudders*)
